The Tragic Nightmare of Kidnapped Families: Desperate Pleas for Their Return
The nightmare of having loved ones kidnapped by terrorists is unimaginable. When the same people responsible for burning and massacring their closest friends and neighbors took away their family members, the agony of not knowing their fate became unbearable. For Gaya Kalderon and her family, this nightmare has been their reality since that fateful October morning when they were violently taken by Hamas kidnappers. In a heart-wrenching plea, Gaya says, “Please, please, do everything you can to bring them back to me. To us.”
The Kalderon family, along with many others living in the targeted kibbutz of Nir Oz, were a tight-knit group who enjoyed activities like cycling and spending time in nature. But life was far from perfect due to constant rocket attacks from Gaza, leaving the children with severe anxiety. Now, they must face the trauma of not knowing their family members’ fate and hold onto the hope that they will be returned safely.
In their determined fight to free their loved ones, the families have united under the banner of the “Hostages and Missing Families Forum.” They are rallying support from around the world, appealing to every human heart to raise awareness. With the release of wristbands reading “As long as they are there,” the families want to remind everyone that they are there and fighting for their loved ones’ return.
Gaya Kalderon and the families left behind are leading the charge, tirelessly collecting information and receiving calls of support. They are urging the Israeli government and other countries and organizations to prioritize the release of the hostages. As they continue their fight, their hope remains strong, clinging to the belief that their loved ones will be returned. They cannot bear the thought of their family members enduring endless trauma without hope, and they pray that they are together and safe.
Despite the devastating news of the discovery of two bodies belonging to their family, the remaining loved ones burying them understood the urgency of their fight. Sharon, the kidnapped children’s aunt, expressed the need to prioritize their return, saying, “We have no time to lose.”
As Erez’s 12th birthday approaches, the Kalderon family prays and hopes with all their might to have him back home to celebrate the occasion. They understand the preciousness of every minute and will not rest until their loved ones are returned.
Their struggle has captured the attention of the entire country. Cyclist Omer Shapira, who knows many of the families personally, feels the pain and mission deeply. She emphasizes the need to bring them home, saying, “We are all behind them in the quest to bring them home now.”
The plea of the Kalderon family and others affected by this tragedy is clear: #BringThemHomeNow.
