Ethan Hayter Secures Overall Podium Finish at Cro Race in Croatia
Ethan Hayter, a member of the Grenadiers team, has clinched a podium finish at the Cro Race in Croatia. Alongside him, his teammate Magnus Sheffield also managed to secure fourth place overall. The six-day event came to an end with a chaotic bunch sprint in the streets of Zagreb, with the battle for the general classification (GC) ultimately coming down to bonus seconds.
Hayter, who was second overnight, was able to secure two seconds at the early intermediate sprint. However, he was unable to contest the final sprint due to a late battle for position. Alexander Kristoff of Uno-X elevated himself to second place overall, finishing as the runner-up in the sprint and collecting crucial time bonuses on the final day.
Magnus Sheffield played a crucial role in bringing the team to the forefront in the final stages of the race. The American rider finished just two seconds behind his teammate and nine seconds off the race winner, securing fourth place in the GC.
Despite a hard crash in the final moments, Orluis Aular of Caja Rural-Seguros RGA managed to hold on and claim the overall victory by a mere three seconds over Kristoff.
The Grenadiers team put in a tremendous effort throughout the race, working as a cohesive unit. They took control of the peloton late in the race but were unable to contest the final sprint due to surges in the peloton and a late crash.
Overall, it was a successful race for Hayter and the Grenadiers team, with Hayter securing a podium finish and Sheffield putting in a strong performance to claim fourth place.
