Tour of Istanbul: Nicolas Vinokurov Takes Third Place in General Classification
Astana Qazaqstan Development Team rider Nicolas Vinokurov finished in a strong third place in the final General Classification of the Tour of Istanbul in Turkey. Despite challenging weather conditions, Vinokurov showcased his growing form throughout the four-day race.
Vinokurov had consistent performances, finishing 8th in the opening stage, 3rd in the second day, and 4th in the queen stage, highlighting his ambitions for a podium finish. The last day of the race concluded with a bunch sprint, with no changes in the top positions of the classification.
Reflecting on his performance, Vinokurov expressed satisfaction with his podium finish: “I was feeling quite good during these four days of racing, and I’m happy I could reach another podium on the General Classification. My team did an excellent job, putting me in the best possible conditions in crucial moments of the race.”
The Tour of Istanbul featured a high level of competition, with strong European riders participating. Despite challenging weather conditions and slippery roads, Vinokurov managed to stay on his bike without any trouble.
The Astana Qazaqstan Development Team continues to make its mark in international races, with Vinokurov’s podium finish adding to the team’s success. He had previously achieved a podium finish in the Tour of Van.
