Corbin Strong Claims Third Place at Circuit Franco-Belge

New Zealand cyclist Corbin Strong sprinted to a commendable third-place finish at the Circuit Franco-Belge. The altered parcours featured a challenging climb at the finish, which played to Strong’s strengths. Positioned well in the final meters, Strong made a spirited sprint to secure a spot on the podium.

The race saw a mix of teams with different strategies, and Israel – Premier Tech knew that a reduced sprint was the most likely outcome. As the final kilometer approached, Strong maintained an advantageous position and launched his sprint. While he narrowly missed catching the eventual winner, Arnaud De Lie, Strong’s performance was enough to secure third place.

In an interview, Strong expressed satisfaction with his performance but admitted disappointment at not standing on the top step of the podium. He credited his team’s support throughout the race and acknowledged the valuable input of Sports Director Sep Vanmarcke, who was participating in his first race as a director.

Sports Director Rene Andrle praised Strong’s achievement, emphasizing the high caliber of riders in the competition. Andrle noted the team’s effective control of the race and highlighted Strong’s ability to position himself well among a group of strong contenders. Although the win eluded Strong on this occasion, Andrle considers the result a great success for both the team and the rider.

Vanmarcke, who made his debut as a Sports Director at the race, expressed delight in the team’s podium finish. Excited about his future role, Vanmarcke relished the opportunity to plan race strategies and looks forward to pursuing more successful outcomes in his upcoming races.
