Marc Hirschi Claims Victory at the 83rd Škoda Tour de Luxembourg

Marc Hirschi of UAE Team Emirates emerged as the winner of the 83rd edition of the Škoda Tour de Luxembourg. Hirschi successfully defended his overall lead, finishing in 24th place on the final stage between Mersch and Luxembourg-Limpertsberg. His teammate Brandon McNulty secured second place overall, just 3 seconds behind, while Ben Healy of EF Education First took third place, 5 seconds behind.

The race saw a twelve-man breakaway group form early on, featuring riders like Julian Alaphilippe of Soudal Quick-Step and Victor Campenaerts of Lotto Dstny. Lennert Teugels of Bingoal WB, who attempted to take the mountains jersey from Mats Wenzel of Leopard TOGT Pro Cycling, was also part of the breakaway. However, the group did not pose a significant threat and the decisive moment of the race occurred on the last climb of the Pabeierbierg, just 2 kilometers before the finish.

In a post-race interview, Hirschi reflected on the challenging race, stating, “It was stressful, but it was also good for us that there was a big breakaway group at the beginning. That’s why the race was really fast all day. My legs felt very tired. In the end, it was good that a small group decided the victory among themselves, because this way I was sure that my competitors didn’t get any bonus seconds. The Škoda Tour de Luxembourg is a great race. I have already raced in Luxembourg as a youth rider. I have a great impression of the country and the terrain with the many small climbs suits me very well.”

Hirschi’s victory at the Škoda Tour de Luxembourg highlights his strength and skill as a cyclist. His ability to defend his overall lead showcases the dedication and determination he possesses. The race was a testament to the challenging nature of the course and the competitive spirit of the riders.
