Team dsm-firmenich impressed once again at the Vuelta a España as their sprint specialist, Alberto Dainese, clinched the stage victory in Íscar. With a carefully executed plan and exceptional teamwork, the team positioned Dainese perfectly for the final sprint to secure the win.
Throughout the controlled stage, the peloton kept the breakaway group under control, allowing Team dsm-firmenich to conserve their energy for the final push. Despite some nervousness in the bunch, the team moved up skillfully as a unit, ensuring Dainese was in an advantageous position. As they approached the last corner before the long final straight, the lead-out dropped off Dainese at the front. With a burst of speed, Dainese surged ahead and claimed the stage victory in an exhilarating sprint finale. Crossing the finish line, Dainese celebrated the team’s well-deserved success.
Reflecting on the team’s performance, Dainese expressed his elation, stating, “We did a super job. We executed the plan perfectly. It was really unlucky to lose Sean and Max in the crash, but until that point, they kept me in the perfect position. I’m super happy to finish it off today. I really wanted to end the season and my time with the team in a good way; this feels really special because of that.”
Team dsm-firmenich coach Phil West commended the team’s efforts, highlighting their progress in the sprint stages. “Credit where credit is due, today they rode an almost perfect final. They were in the exactly right spots where they needed to be, made all the moves at the right moments, and the communication was on a high level,” West said. Despite the unfortunate crash that affected two of their riders, West remained optimistic, adding, “I think as a team we can be really happy with that one, and we’ll continue in the last days here.”
Team dsm-firmenich demonstrated exceptional teamwork and resilience, and their victory at the Vuelta is a testament to their dedication and skill. As the race progresses, the team aims to maintain their momentum and secure further successes.
