Phil Bauhaus Secures Podium Finish on Stage 4 of Tour de France
German cyclist Phil Bauhaus continued his impressive debut at the Tour de France, securing another podium result with a third-place finish on Stage 4. The 181 km stage from Dax was expected to favor sprinters, and Bauhaus capitalized on the opportunity.
The peloton maintained a slow pace for most of the stage, with no breakaways until the final 86 km. As the race entered the Circuit Paul Armagnac in Nogaro, the intensity picked up with high speeds and sharp turns. Bauhaus remained focused and positioned himself well in the final moments.
With 3.1 km to go, Matej Mohoric led the peloton onto the track, setting a fast pace. Bauhaus followed his final lead-out man, Nikias Ardnt, and managed to latch onto the wheel of Jasper Philipsen from Alpecin-Deceuninck. However, Bauhaus couldn’t quite match Philipsen’s speed, and the Belgian rider took the stage win, with Caleb Ewan of Soudal-Dstny in second place.
Bauhaus remains optimistic for future stages, especially those suited for sprinters. He praised his teammates for their support and performance, stating, “We are already doing pretty well, and my teammates are doing a fantastic job… We are proving we are one of the best teams here for the sprint.” Despite the strong competition from riders like Philipsen and van der Poel, Bauhaus is determined to keep pushing and hopes for a breakthrough in the next two and a half weeks of racing.
With six more stages tailored for sprint finishes, Phil Bauhaus and his team, Bahrain Victorious, will continue their pursuit of success at the Tour de France.
