Bahrain Victorious Aims for Podium Finish at Bemer Cyclassics Hamburg
The Bemer Cyclassics Hamburg, one of the most anticipated classic appointments for sprinters, is set to take place on August 20th. With a rich history since its inception in 1996, the race has become Germany’s largest one-day classic race.
The upcoming edition will feature the traditional route, covering a solid distance of 205km. The race consists of a flat first part followed by a more challenging second part, with the highlight being the Waseberg hill. This demanding section will be repeated three times, with the final ascent occurring just 15.9 km from the finish.
The course is well-suited for classics specialists and punchy sprinters, who usually engage in a reduced bunch sprint in Mönckebergstrasse. Bahrain Victorious’ Sports Director, Enrico Poitschke, stated, “We aim to be there in the mix to contest a podium result. We have a big chance to finish the race on the podium, seeing our lineup, including skilled riders for this kind of course.”
Poitschke emphasized the importance of teamwork and positioning on the tricky circuit. He mentioned that their goal is the podium but added, “Of course, we will try to win the race with our sprinter Jonathan Milan, who can count on the lead out of some reliable and strong riders.”
The team’s lineup for the race includes Jonathan Milan, who will make his debut at the Bemer Cyclassics Hamburg. Milan commented, “Last year, I was working for Phil Bauhaus, and unfortunately, I crashed, but I managed to finish it. It’s a nice race. I did it for the first time last year and liked it. There are some changes, but they are slight. I like the final part of the course.”
Milan, who recently participated in the Track World Championships, expressed his excitement about returning to road racing. He aims to finish the season strongly, starting with the Bemer Cyclassics Hamburg.
With a strong team and their sights set on the podium, Bahrain Victorious is eager to make their mark at the prestigious race and secure a top result.
