BORA – hansgrohe riders secure top 20 results at Grand Prix Cycliste Québec & Montréal races
The BORA – hansgrohe team participated in two WorldTour one-day races, Grand Prix Cycliste Québec and Grand Prix Cycliste Montréal, held in Canada over the weekend. Despite tough competition, Giovanni Aleotti achieved a commendable 16th place finish in the Montréal race.
Grand Prix Cycliste Québec, a 201.6km race spread over 16 laps in Quebec City, concluded with a sprint by a significantly reduced peloton. BORA – hansgrohe riders Giovanni Aleotti and Frederik Wandahl finished in 27th and 40th place respectively, in the same time as the race winner, Arnaud de Lie.
Grand Prix Cycliste Montréal took place on an urban circuit, covering 18 laps and 221.4km around the University of Montréal. The race featured challenging elevation with almost 5000 meters of gain. Adam Yates emerged as the winner after a demanding final 50km elimination race. Giovanni Aleotti was once again the highest-placed BORA – hansgrohe rider, securing a 16th place finish.
Enrico Gasparotto, Sports Director of BORA – hansgrohe, expressed mixed sentiments about the team’s performance, stating, “Our goal here was to score a good result but unfortunately we have to accept, we weren’t on the level to achieve that goal… The boys gave their best here, we know where we are and we definitely have to work hard towards our last big races this season.”
