Sepp Kuss: “Hats off to Remco Evenepoel”

Sepp Kuss Applauds Remco Evenepoel’s Impressive Performance

In a recent interview, professional cyclist Sepp Kuss expressed his admiration for Remco Evenepoel’s performance at a recent race. Kuss stated, “[What Remco Evenepoel did] is really impressive. It’s a nice way to bounce back after yesterday and I’m happy for him that he could get a win after yesterday maybe being a disappointing day. Hats off to him.”

Kuss also discussed the team’s strategy during the race, highlighting the importance of staying together and controlling the second climb. He said, “We knew he would be motivated to attack, but we weren’t particularly worried about the breakaway today, we just had to focus on staying together because we knew the second climb, Larrau, would be tricky if riders in general attacked there, but we kept it under control and it all stayed together to the finish.”

Despite recognizing the strong performance of UAE Team Emirates, Kuss emphasized that his team, including riders like Attila Valter and Robert Gesink, remained in a good position throughout the race. Kuss concluded by saying, “We knew that it was one of the better chances [for rivals] to try something, especially with how hard the first two climbs were, so close together. [UAE Team Emirates] did a really impressive stage but all three of us were there and guys like Attila [Valter] and Robert [Gesink] came back so we were always in a good place as a team.”

Kuss’s praise for Evenepoel’s resilience and the team’s strategy showcases the competitive nature of professional cycling and the mutual respect among its athletes.
