A Quiet Day for Remco Evenepoel at La Vuelta
The Belgian Champion, Remco Evenepoel, remained in third place on the standings after the fourth summit finish at La Vuelta. Despite this, he sported the white jersey of the race for the first time in his career on stage 11.
Evenepoel, surrounded by his Soudal Quick-Step teammates, rode a steady pace up the 6.5km climb before accelerating in the final 200 meters and leading the favourites’ group home. However, the stage did not bring any changes to the general classification.
Reflecting on the stage, Evenepoel said, “We knew it was going to be very hard to make the difference today, so we rode smart and relaxed.”
Overall, it was a quiet day for the peloton at La Vuelta.
