Bob Jungels Finishes 12th in the Tour de France with a Stage Win

Bob Jungels: “You always have to believe in yourself”

“I’m happy to have finished this Tour de France, without illness or problems, and to be twelfth overall with a stage win

to my name.

It’s been a Tour de France without a break, without a moment’s respite. You just had to fight hard and not give up. I’ll always remember the Châtel stage and that success, so important after everything I’d been through. It wasn’t easy to take on the role of leader after Ben O’Connor dropped out, but I fought hard to rise to the challenge. Then I tried to take my chances, to get into a breakaway like I did in the Mende stage, but I couldn

‘t.

A year ago, I was commenting on the last time trial on Radio Télé Luxembourg, a few days after my operation. It’s great to be here. It’s a relief and it’s a sign that you always have to believe in yourself. That’s the most important thing in life.”

Bob Jungels of the AG2R CITROËN team finished 12th overall in the Tour de France and also secured a stage win in Châtel. Jungels expressed his satisfaction with his performance and the challenges he faced throughout the race.

The victory in Châtel marked the 21st Tour de France win in the team’s history. Vincent Lavenu, general manager of the AG2R CITROËN team, praised Jungels for living up to expectations and commended his consistent efforts during the race.

“With Bob’s victory in Châtel, following the longest solo breakaway in the Tour since 2006, Bob lived up perfectly to expectations,” Lavenu said. “In addition to this magnificent success, Bob Jungels fought hard every day to maintain his 12th place overall. He did the team proud by assuming the role of leader. He never gave up.”

Jungels’ strong performance and resilience were acknowledged, despite the team facing challenges due to the absence of their best climbers. Lavenu remained positive about the team’s overall performance and efforts in the race to Paris.
