Caleb Ewan Returns to Racing at Circuit Franco-Belge After Collarbone Surgery

Lotto Soudal’s Caleb Ewan is set to make his return to racing at the Circuit Franco-Belge, just over two weeks after the Tour de France. Ewan, who underwent collarbone surgery following last year’s crash at the Tour, is thrilled to be back on the bike and is looking forward to the upcoming challenges.

“I feel pretty good after my collarbone surgery from two weeks ago,” says Ewan. “The recovery period took a little longer than expected, but it was definitely a good decision to plan this surgery after the Tour. My shoulder and arm were bothering me for quite some months, and hopefully, this issue has been resolved now.”

Despite the surgery and the mandatory week of rest, Ewan acknowledges that he may not be in top form for the Circuit Franco-Belge. However, he sees the race as an opportunity to get his legs back in shape and prepare for the next part of the season, which includes the Bemer Cyclassics Hamburg and the Deutschland Tour. Ewan also has his eyes set on the World Championships in Australia.

“Due to the surgery and the week of rest, I obviously lost a bit of shape,” admits Ewan. “So immediately battling for victory will be difficult. But it is a nice race to get the legs going again and prepare for the next part of the season.”

Ewan’s return to racing is not only significant for himself but also for the Lotto Soudal team. His presence alongside Arnaud De Lie and Victor Campenaerts will undoubtedly strengthen their chances in the Circuit Franco-Belge.
