Caleb Ewan Secures a Dominant Stage Victory at the Deutschland Tour
Lotto Soudal rider Caleb Ewan emerged victorious in the first stage of the Deutschland Tour held in Meiningen. Ewan, guided by his team, showcased a powerful sprint finish, claiming his first-ever stage victory at the prestigious race and his sixth win of the season.
The stage, characterized by undulating terrain, featured a flurry of attacks and several climbs. However, Lotto Soudal worked diligently to maintain control and set up a sprint finish for their Australian leader. Riding in an impressive manner, Ewan unleashed a powerful acceleration and crossed the finish line ahead of his rivals, the Italian Milan, and the German Kanter.
“I am really happy to finish it off here after a long period without victories,” said a satisfied Caleb Ewan. “This stage win tastes really sweet following some pretty average months. I kept believing in myself and my team always supported me. So, I am happy to be back to winning ways and give the team this Deutschland Tour stage victory.”
Ewan further expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “My teammates just did it perfectly. They kept the bunch together and made sure it would be a sprint in the end. It still became a little tricky when I almost got boxed in, but I could find some space to pass and could power on all the way to the line. I am really pleased with this win.”
The victory marks a significant comeback for Ewan, who was hindered by a crash in Hamburg but found his climbing legs again during the selective stage of the Deutschland Tour. With his remarkable performance, Ewan showcased his form and resilience.
