“I am happy with my results from the last months,” says Jarne Van de Paar, reflecting on his successful transition from the Lotto Dstny Development team to the ProTeam. In his first months as a pro, Van de Paar achieved a third-place finish in the Trofeo Palma and performed well in the Tour du Loir et Cher. However, he hopes to showcase his skills even further in the upcoming weeks.
Having inherited his love for cycling from his father, a professional mountain biker, Van de Paar joined the Lotto Dstny Development team at the age of 18. As he looks back on his evolution within the team, he expresses gratitude for the opportunities and guidance he has received throughout his career. He credits sports directors, particularly Kurt Van de Wouwer, for their help in developing his race strategy and professional attitude.
Another significant connection to Lotto Dstny is Van de Paar’s sister, Ines, who has been riding for the Lotto Dstny Ladies since 2022. Van de Paar admires her ability to balance sports and studies, a feat he himself finds challenging. He cherishes the rare moments when they can ride together and catch up.
Despite missing some races due to a spider bite, Van de Paar made a strong comeback in the Tour du Loir et Cher, winning a stage and securing second place overall, as well as the points jersey. He feels confident in his form and eagerly anticipates the upcoming weeks, seeking to make an even greater impact.
Van de Paar’s sprinting capabilities are recognized as his greatest asset, although he aspires to expand his skills and become more than just a sprinter. His ambition is to eventually excel in the spring classics, with Paris-Roubaix being the race that particularly captivates him. He aims to work towards this goal in the coming years.
