Marco Frigo and Itamar Einhorn Sidelined with Injuries
Italian cyclist Marco Frigo will be forced to miss the Giro d’Italia Giovani U23 due to a non-displaced left radius fracture sustained in a crash at the Giro dell’Appennino. Frigo will not require surgery and will be wearing a cast for the next 4-6 weeks to stabilize the fracture. Despite trying to continue training, Frigo and his team have decided it is best to prioritize his recovery.
Frigo expressed his disappointment, saying, “I’m disappointed because we invested a lot of time and energy preparing for the race and my feelings were good. Luckily or unluckily, I have a bit of experience in restarting from injury, so we’ll make the best out of it.”
In another setback for the team, Itamar Einhorn also suffered an injury during the Heistse Pijl race. An MRI confirmed a partial tear of his medial collateral ligament in the left knee. However, Einhorn’s recovery is expected to be faster, and he should be able to return to racing in approximately two weeks.
These injuries come as a blow to the team, but they remain hopeful for a strong comeback from both Frigo and Einhorn after they make a full recovery.
