Matthew Riccitello Joins Israel Premier Tech as Stagiaire, Gearing up for Vuelta a Burgos
Israel Premier Tech has recently announced the addition of North American cyclist Matthew Riccitello as a stagiaire for the rest of the 2022 season. The 20-year-old climbing talent will be making his debut with the team at the upcoming Vuelta a Burgos.
Riccitello’s promising performances at the U23 level caught the attention of Israel Premier Tech. The team’s Sporting Manager, Rik Verbrugghe, expressed enthusiasm about Riccitello’s potential, stating, “We have had our eye on Matthew Riccitello for a while and have followed his progress at the U23 level, so we are excited for him to join IPT as a stagiaire. He is an up-and-coming talent and at just 20-years-old, Matthew has a bright future ahead of him. At Vuelta a Burgos, Matthew will join some of our most experienced riders and will have the opportunity to learn from them in the fast-paced pro peloton.”
Prior to joining Israel Premier Tech, Riccitello had a successful season with Hagens Berman Axeon, which included an overall victory at the Istarsko Proljeće – Istrian Spring Trophy in March.
Riccitello expressed his excitement about racing with Israel Premier Tech, stating, “I’m super excited to race with Israel Premier Tech as a stagiaire. It’s a great opportunity to get more race experience, especially with the WorldTour guys as I’ve been looking up to a lot of them throughout my progression in the sport. I’m looking forward to soaking it all in and learning as much as I can from the more experienced guys.”
Looking ahead to his future, Riccitello sees himself as a GC (General Classification) rider focusing on stage races. He expressed gratitude to IPT for the opportunity to race in Burgos and further his development.
With Riccitello’s promising talent and the guidance of Israel Premier Tech’s experienced riders, all eyes will be on him as he takes on Vuelta a Burgos and continues to progress in his cycling career.
