Rudy Barbier finishes fourth in the opening stage of Tour de Hongrie

French sprinter Rudy Barbier showcased his sprinting prowess in the first stage of the Tour de Hongrie, securing a respectable fourth place finish. As Israel – Premier Tech’s team leader for the flat stages, Barbier positioned himself well during the final chicane and sprinted towards an impressive result.

Despite an early breakaway, the peloton quickly caught up, leaving little room for the escapees to maintain their advantage. Amongst the top sprinters in the race, including Fabio Jakobsen, Dylan Groenewegen, and Elia Viviani, Barbier was Israel – Premier Tech’s best hope for success.

“There was some battling for positions before the last kilometer, and my teammates put me in a good position. In the chicane I maintained fifth. I wish I could sprint to the podium, but I had to settle for fourth,” Barbier expressed.

Looking ahead, tomorrow’s second stage offers another opportunity for the sprinters as it remains flat.
