Itamar Einhorn Shows Strong Form with 7th Place Finish in Vuelta a España
Israeli road race champion, Itamar Einhorn, showcased his sprinting skills on the second stage of the Vuelta a España. Despite a crash-marred finish and unfortunate fall of Daryl Impey, Einhorn managed to secure a commendable seventh place.
Einhorn benefited from strong teamwork, with IPT’s riders positioning themselves well throughout the day. He successfully navigated the chaos of the sprint and demonstrated his excellent form in the first of two sprint opportunities in The Netherlands.
Einhorn shared his thoughts on the stage, stating, “I had good speed and good acceleration, so I’m happy with my condition and I think we can do better in the next days. The sprint went quite well for me. I stayed in a good position from around six kilometers to go where I originally planned to move up…“
However, Einhorn encountered difficulties when the sprint intensified, saying, “After the bridge, I tried to start my sprint but I was blocked from both sides so it took me some time to get out and then in the final 100 meters, I really accelerated but it was too late. But actually, I can see that the fourth position was quite close so that was a good sign.“
While Einhorn achieved a strong result, his teammate Daryl Impey was unfortunately involved in a crash. Although Impey sustained multiple abrasions on his right side, initial observations suggest no further injuries. Impey will undergo further examinations at the team hotel. Despite the incident, IPT managed to protect their General Classification leader, Mike Woods, from any harm.
Looking ahead, stage 3 promises another fast and furious day, with 193km of flat terrain. Einhorn, growing confident after his sprint result, will be aiming to improve even further before the race makes its way to Spain.
