Bauhaus-Inspired Kit Takes Center Stage as Israel Cycling Academy Begins Deutschland Tour in Weimar
Israel Cycling Academy rider Oded Kogut kicked off the Deutschland Tour in Weimar, Germany, finishing 45th in the prologue. Weimar, known for its connection to the Bauhaus school of art, serves as the starting point for the first stage of the tour. The architectural style of Bauhaus, which still influences design in Tel Aviv, was the inspiration behind Israel – Premier Tech’s 2022 team kit.
The Bauhaus movement, originating in Weimar after World War I, aimed to merge mass production with individual artistic vision. This style of art and design had a significant impact on architectural aesthetics worldwide until the school was forced to close under Nazi pressure.
Tel Aviv, a city that emerged contemporaneously with the rise of Bauhaus, embraced the architectural style, resulting in over 4,000 buildings designed with clean lines and a predominantly white color scheme. In recognition of its significance, Tel Aviv’s “White City” was designated a World Heritage Site in 2003.
Israel – Premier Tech’s 2022 kit proudly showcases the influence of Bauhaus, featuring simple geometric shapes like rectangles and spheres, mirroring the style’s emphasis on clean lines and rounded corners. Tel Aviv even houses a Bauhaus Center, allowing visitors to explore the city’s history and its ties to the iconic style.
Although Oded Kogut did not secure a podium position in the prologue, he made an impressive showing and briefly led in the climber’s classification. As the team moves forward in the tour, the riders and fans alike are excited to see the Bauhaus-inspired Jinga kit take center stage, returning to its roots in Weimar.
