Jakob Fuglsang Satisfied with Performance at First Race Back After Injury

Jakob Fuglsang made a successful return to racing at the Tour de Hongrie, marking his first race since the UAE Tour in February. Despite being out of racing for a long period, Fuglsang expressed satisfaction with his performance, securing a top ten result on stage three and finishing eleventh overall.

Fuglsang commented, “I’ve felt pretty good, I’m about where I thought I would be, especially being out of racing for so long. There’s still a bit of work to do, but it was good to be up there on stages three and four, so I have to be satisfied with this result.”

The Tour of Hongrie consisted of both flat sprint stages and challenging climbing stages that determined the overall general classification. Fuglsang, known for his climbing abilities, approached the race by maintaining his own pace and not chasing every attack.

Marc Hirschi and the other guys went for it, I just stuck to my own pace, and managed to get quite a decent result for my first race back."

Fuglsang’s strong finish and top ten placement bode well for the remainder of the season as he aims to participate in this year’s Tour de France. With a busy schedule ahead, including an altitude training camp in Andorra and the Tour of Suisse, Fuglsang is focused on building his form for the prestigious race.

Sport Director Rene Mandri expressed his satisfaction with Fuglsang’s performance and believes that he is on the right track in his recovery and training. Mandri stated, “Jakob is on the path of coming back after injury, and he’s still building up form at the moment. To get a top ten in a stage and then finish eleventh overall shows that he’s on a good path. He has a training camp coming up now, so he can jump another level.”
