David De La Cruz Finishes Tenth in the General Classification at Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana
The 73rd edition of the Spanish stage race Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana concluded with David De La Cruz finishing in tenth place in the General Classification. The race, which featured a brutal climb in Antenas del Maigmo, did not see any changes in the overall standings in the final stage.
Astana Qazaqstan Team faced some setbacks at the beginning of the race, with Antonio Nibali and Fabio Felline unable to compete due to health reasons. Despite these obstacles, the team performed well throughout the week, with David De La Cruz securing a top-ten finish in the overall standings.
Throughout the race, the Astana Qazaqstan Team riders were active and made notable efforts. Manuele Boaro was particularly impressive, leading the race at Stage 4 and being the last rider caught by the peloton. Vincenzo Nibali and Manuele Boaro also attempted to break away on the final day in search of a stage win.
Reflecting on his performance, David De La Cruz expressed optimism about his start to the season:
“Well, I can say I am quite confident with my form and with the way I’ve started this season. It is true that I was expecting something more from my first race and I felt like I was still missing a bit. But, at the same time, I am sure I can improve for my next race. I am looking forward to my start at the UAE Tour and, especially, to the further races, Paris-Nice and Volta a Catalunya later in March.”
The team will now focus on their upcoming races, including the UAE Tour, Paris-Nice, and Volta a Catalunya, as they strive for more success in the season ahead.
