La Vuelta Stage 3 – Mathis Le Berre Reflects on “An Emotional Moment”

French cyclist Mathis Le Berre shares his experience of participating in the Vuelta Ciclista a España, describing it as “an emotional moment” for him. In the third stage of the race, Le Berre was part of a breakaway group that had to chase for about twenty-five kilometers to catch up with the leading riders.

Le Berre recalls the team’s strategy, stating, “There was a good breakaway group ahead, and we had to be represented. That was the watchword this morning in the bus at the briefing.” Despite being a mountain stage, Le Berre explains how his previous breakaways at the start of the season helped him in this race.

Expressing his excitement and pride, Le Berre says, “To be at the front of a Grand Tour like the Vuelta is a very emotional moment, especially as it’s the very first one I’ve taken part in. There are some great riders there.” However, he acknowledges that his strength lies outside of pure climbing, saying, “The pure climbers clearly had an advantage over me.”
