The highly anticipated Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships will be taking place at Ride Rock Creek in Zirconia, N.C. from October 12-15, 2023. This marks a shift from the event’s usual location out West to the strong collegiate cycling community in the Southeast.
“For the past few years, Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals has been out West, and now we’re excited to bring Nationals to a strong collegiate cycling community like the Southeast, and at a national-caliber venue like Ride Rock Creek,” said Kyle Knott, USA Cycling National Events Director.
Ride Rock Creek is no stranger to hosting national championship events. They successfully held the Downhill, Dual Slalom, and Enduro National Championship races for all Elite and Amateur categories earlier this year. The park, founded by national team athlete and professional downhill mountain bike racer Neko Mulally, is located on the edge of the DuPont State Forest and has been expanding since its establishment in 2022.
Mulally expressed his enthusiasm about hosting Collegiate Nationals at Ride Rock Creek, stating, “Rock Creek is excited to expand our venue to include endurance courses for Cross Country and Short Track. Collegiate Nationals is an awesome event with a lot of passion, and we’re looking forward to hosting it here in North Carolina.”
The Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championship is the largest collegiate cycling event organized by USA Cycling. Athletes will compete in various disciplines, including Cross-Country, Short Track, Downhill, Dual Slalom, and Team Relay. The weekend will culminate in the awarding of the Omnium National Title to the best overall varsity and club teams.
