Roglic Claims Overall Victoy with Stage Win in Vuelta a Burgos

Primož Roglic of Team Jumbo-Visma secured the overall victory in the Vuelta a Burgos with a stage win in the final stage. The breakaway group was kept within reach by Team Jumbo-Visma until the final climb to Lagunas de Neila, where the race broke up. Roglic, along with Adam Yates and Aleksandr Vlasov, left the rest of the peloton behind and rode together to the finish line. Roglic made a final acceleration to sprint to victory and take the overall title. Reflecting on the race, Roglic said, “Although it was another hot day, I felt good… I’m happy to have finished it off like this.”

Sports director Marc Reef described the race as a “good dress rehearsal” for the upcoming Vuelta a España, noting that the temperatures, course, and racing style were similar to what the team will face in the upcoming race. The team’s overall success in the Vuelta a Burgos, including winning the team time trial, two stages, and the general classification, has left them feeling confident heading into the Vuelta a España.

Team Jumbo-Visma has now won fifty races this season, with Roglic himself securing 12 victories. The Vuelta a Burgos served as an important race for the team, providing valuable race miles and preparation for the upcoming Grand Tour event.
