Roglič Claims Second Stage Win in Vuelta a Burgos

Slovenian cyclist Primož Roglič has secured his second stage victory in the Vuelta a Burgos. The race heated up on the challenging Picón Blanco, with Roglič managing to stay with the leading group despite an increased pace by UAE Team Emirates. Roglič, together with Damien Howson, was able to counter Adam Yates’ attack and was joined by Aleksandr Vlasov on the descent. In a thrilling sprint finish, Roglič timed his move perfectly to pass Yates and take the win.

“My form is good, but there are still two difficult days ahead,” Roglič commented on his performance. The rider expressed his satisfaction with the victory, stating, “The team did a fantastic job controlling the breakaway from the start…After that, it was about finishing the work of the team.” With this win, Roglič has increased his season total to 11 victories and contributed to Team Jumbo-Visma’s overall season total of 48 wins.

As preparations for the Vuelta a España progress, Roglič remains confident in his form. “The preparations are going well. I’m here to connect the dots, and so far, it’s going well. My form is good, but there are still two difficult days ahead. Hopefully, I can test my legs again then.”
