ZOE RETAINS HER U23 WORLD CUP LEAD

Title: Zoe Bäckstedt Extends U23 World Cup Lead Despite Sickness

Zoe Bäckstedt continues to shine in the Cyclo-cross World Cup series, securing an impressive eighth place and second in the U23 category in the recent race in Troyes, France. Maintaining her lead in the U23 World Cup general classification and holding on to third place in the Elite World Cup general classification, Zoe’s determination and resilience were evident.

Zoe shared, “At the start, I was focused on getting the best result possible to try to extend my lead in the overall U23. But towards the end, I was feeling a lot more tired after my sickness in the last week, so my focus moved to trying to stay ahead of Bentveld and catch Schreiber.”

Despite facing a challenging battle on the track, Zoe expressed her contentment with the outcome given her recent illness, “My feeling on the bike isn’t amazing after my sickness, so I have to say I’m happy with the result today. I have more to give for sure, and I know it’s possible to be up there fighting with the best, but that will all come in time.”

Looking to the future, Zoe remains optimistic and determined, “I’m happy to have held onto my third overall, and my U23 lead! Next weekend we go again and race round #5 in Dublin. I’ll be fighting with all I can to get some more points.”

Zoe Bäckstedt’s unwavering spirit and determination showcase her potential for future successes in the cyclo-cross world.
