Bahrain Victorious to GranPiemonte and Il Lombardia

Bahrain Victorious Set to Compete in GranPiemonte and Il Lombardia Cycling Races

Team Bahrain Victorious is gearing up for two major cycling events in Italy this week. The first is the GranPiemonte race, scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 5th, while the second is the highly anticipated Il Lombardia, set for Saturday, 7th.

For the GranPiemonte race, the team is expecting a challenging course that could favor climbers. Sports Directors Alberto Volpi and Roman Kreuziger explain, “If the race will become hard, we believe that Antonio Tiberi can have a good opportunity. We will try to take a top 5 result with him.”

The team is also relying on rider Nicolò Buratti, who has shown promising skills in recent races. “If he survives the climbs and the gap won’t be too much for him to catch the front of the race in the finale, he is our fast man,” the directors add.

Mikel Landa and Santiago Buitrago, who recently competed in La Vuelta, will be back on the racecourse for the GranPiemonte as a warmup for Il Lombardia. They will support the team’s leader and joker for the race, while conserving energy for the last Monument of the season.

Following the GranPiemonte, Team Bahrain Victorious will head to Lombardy for the final Monument Classic of the year, Il Lombardia. The challenging route includes iconic climbs such as Madonna del Ghisallo, Roncola, and Passo della Crocetta, among others.

Santiago Buitrago is excited to return to racing after La Vuelta and aims to end his season on a high note. “We want to be competitive to get a nice result on a course that suits our captain, Mikel, and me,” he says.

Both Buitrago and Mikel Landa have had successful performances in previous editions of Il Lombardia and will be striving to secure another podium finish for Team Bahrain Victorious in this prestigious race known as the “Classic of the Falling Leaves.”
