Van Asbroeck Secures Fourth Place in Tour de Wallonie Stage: Praises Vanmarcke and Hollenstein for Tremendous Support
Belgian cyclist Tom van Asbroeck claimed the fourth spot in the third stage of the Tour de Wallonie, with support from his compatriots Sep Vanmarcke and Reto Hollenstein. After a grueling 196-kilometer race, Van Asbroeck narrowly missed out on a podium finish.
The stage saw a delayed formation of the breakaway group, with over forty riders initially looking to establish a front group. However, the peloton caught up, and another set of escapees gained an advantage for most of the day before being reeled back in before the finish line.
The final part of the stage was relatively less demanding, resulting in some sprinters losing their stamina on the last two short ascents. Van Asbroeck, however, managed to stay strong and positioned himself well for the final sprint.
“Reto Hollenstein and Sep helped me a lot in the final. I trust them completely and they keep proving their lead-out skills over and over again. Reto and Sep brought me in a good position from where I could launch my sprint,” Van Asbroeck praised his teammates after the stage, highlighting their exceptional teamwork.
Yesterday, Omer Goldstein also displayed a strong performance, joining the breakaway group but ultimately dropping back when his competitors launched attacks on the final climb. Goldstein finished in 11th place.
The Tour de Wallonie has two more stages remaining, with tomorrow’s stage resembling the current one, and Wednesday’s stage presenting numerous challenging cobbled sectors for the riders to conquer.
