# Young Talent Shines in Intense Second Stage of Tour of Oman

The second stage of the Tour of Oman proved to be a challenging affair as riders faced steep climbs through the Yitti Hills. From the outset in Al Rustaq, 19-year-old Patryk Goszczurny of Team Visma | Lease a Bike made a bold move, attacking right from the start. This determination saw him joined by four others for an early break, a continuity of his efforts from the previous day.

As the intense race progressed, the leading pack was whittled down to three, comprising Goszczurny, Baptiste Veistroffer, and Tim Marsman. They held their ground over the undulating terrain until Veistroffer unleashed a decisive surge in the final stretch, ultimately finishing solo in first place. In the last kilometers, both Goszczurny and Marsman were reeled in by the peloton, but Lemmen from Team Visma | Lease a Bike managed to secure a commendable eighth place.

Despite being caught near the finish, Goszczurny continued to impress with his performance. “I had another good day,” he remarked after the race, expressing satisfaction with his abilities during the week. “When we went away with five riders and later were down to three, I didn’t expect we’d be able to hold on for so long.”

Reflecting on his bittersweet outcome, he stated, “I’m a little disappointed that I was still caught by the favorites’ group with two kilometers to go. But I’m very satisfied that I picked up more points for the points classification and that I get to wear the most aggressive rider’s jersey. I’m looking forward to the upcoming stages.”

Goszczurny now leads both the points classification and the combativity classification, highlighting his resilience and tenacity.
