USA Cycling Announces BMX Freestyle Athletes for 2024 Olympic Qualifier Series
USA Cycling has revealed the athletes selected to participate in the 2024 Olympic Qualifier Series for BMX Freestyle, which is the final opportunity to secure spots for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The series will feature two events in Shanghai, China, and Budapest, Hungary.
The selected athletes will have the chance to compete at the prestigious events in Shanghai from May 16-19 and in Budapest from June 20-23. USA Cycling’s BMX Freestyle Coach, Ryan Nyquist, expressed excitement for the upcoming series, emphasizing its potential to showcase the athletes’ skills on a global platform.
Nyquist stated, “With BMX Freestyle’s Olympic debut in Tokyo, it’s been exciting to see the sport take on the Olympic stage. The Olympic Qualifier Series will bring a next-level atmosphere and platform for our athletes to show the world their skills beyond Paris.”
During the 2024 Olympic Qualifier Series, a total of 36 athletes from around the world have been invited to compete, with the Olympic teams being determined based on the highest-ranked athletes at the end of the series. Specifically, for BMX Freestyle, only 12 men and 12 women will be selected to compete in Paris.
Team USA’s roster for the Olympic Qualifier Series includes Perris Benegas, Angie Marino, and Hannah Roberts for the Women’s category, and Nick Bruce, Marcus Christopher, and Justin Dowell for the Men’s category. These athletes have been chosen by USA Cycling to represent the nation at the series as the team works to secure spots for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
