Uijtdebroeks narrowly misses out on stage and overall victory at the Czech Tour

# Uijtdebroeks Falls Short in Czech Tour Showdown, but Team Spirit Shines

Cian Uijtdebroeks came tantalizingly close to clinching both the stage and overall victory at the Czech Tour but ultimately fell short. Reflecting on the race, Uijtdebroeks stated, “I think we can be very proud of how we rode as a team today. From start to finish, we were always in control, took charge of the race, and laid our cards on the table in the finale.” He described how he initially broke away, gaining a lead of approximately twenty seconds, but lacked the stamina to maintain it. “At the end, my legs got heavy, and suddenly they came very fast from behind. That’s unfortunate, but I don’t think we can blame ourselves. This was the maximum we could get out of today.”

Despite the disappointment of not crossing the finish line first, Uijtdebroeks maintained a positive perspective. “We should be very proud of each other. We shaped the race and rode offensively in the mountain stages. Unfortunately, the course was just not tough enough for me,” he remarked.

Sports director Sierk Jan de Haan echoed Uijtdebroeks’ sentiments, praising the team’s execution throughout the four-day race. “The guys executed everything we had agreed on perfectly. It seemed like we would put the finishing touch on our work today, but unfortunately, Cian’s legs gave out and he couldn’t quite finish it off. Nevertheless, the good feeling prevails.”

De Haan highlighted the valuable lessons learned by the Development Team during the event. “I’m sure the guys have learned a lot here. They are not only coached from the team car but also guided by the experienced men on the road. You can see their confidence starting to grow. They will take all these learning moments into the future.”

In the final stage results, Uijtdebroeks finished second, just behind Jannis Peter of Team Vorarlberg, who completed the race in 4:21:52. Junior Lecerf of Soudal Quick-Step secured third place, matching Uijtdebroeks’ time.

**Final Standings for the Czech Tour Stage 4:**

2. Cian Uijtdebroeks (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) – +0:00:07

Though Uijtdebroeks narrowly missed out on victory, his determination and the cohesion displayed by the team bode well for future competitions. The Czech Tour may have concluded, but the journey for improvement continues.
