Medical Update: Ben Hermans, Domenico Pozzovivo, and Itamar Einhorn
Israel – Premier Tech has provided updates on the conditions of three cyclists who were involved in crashes during their recent races. Ben Hermans, Domenico Pozzovivo, and Itamar Einhorn all underwent medical examinations and treatment to assess their injuries.
Ben Hermans crashed during the Tour de Wallonie and suffered an elbow (olecranon) fracture and an undisplaced pubic symphysis fracture. He underwent successful surgery to stabilize the elbow fracture and will now focus on recovering. It is estimated that Hermans will be off the bike for four to six weeks.
Domenico Pozzovivo crashed on the first stage of Vuelta a Castilla y Leon and was found to have a broken rib and a small pneumothorax. He will require hospitalization for draining. The timing of Pozzovivo’s return to training will depend on his recovery over the next week.
Itamar Einhorn crashed during the second stage of the Czech Tour but fortunately did not sustain any fractures. However, he did suffer a knee contusion that will be closely monitored.
Israel – Premier Tech will continue to provide updates on the progress of these cyclists’ recoveries.
