Tour de France (19th stage): Ben O’Connor finishes third in intense stage
“It was another crazy day. Everyone rode this stage like it was a classic, even though we’re in the third week of the Tour de France. The pace was hellish. I’m really happy to be playing a leading role again in this edition, after some more complicated days. In the last kilometer, I tried my luck because I knew it would be difficult to win the sprint. It didn’t work out, but at least I have no regrets. I’m feeling much better these days. Felix’s victory in Courchevel really freed us up. Now, there’s a big mountain stage on Saturday to finish the job collectively and get back to the Champs-Élysées on Sunday with pride.”
During the 19th stage of the Tour de France, Australian cyclist Ben O’Connor secured third place in an intense race. Despite the challenging conditions, O’Connor expressed his happiness at being able to play a leading role in this edition of the race. He commented, “It was another crazy day. Everyone rode this stage like it was a classic, even though we’re in the third week of the Tour de France. The pace was hellish.”
O’Connor made a strategic move in the last kilometer, attempting to break away from the sprinting pack. Although he did not secure the win, he expressed no regrets, saying, “I tried my luck because I knew it would be difficult to win the sprint. It didn’t work out, but at least I have no regrets.”
The Australian cyclist also mentioned that he is feeling better in recent days and credited his teammate Felix’s victory in Courchevel for boosting the team’s morale. Looking ahead, O’Connor is focused on the upcoming mountain stage on Saturday, where he hopes they can finish strong as a team and return to the Champs-Élysées on Sunday with pride.
