Tom Pidcock Secures First Victory in Rainbow Jersey at XCO World Cup in Quebec

Tom Pidcock, the reigning world champion, claimed his first victory wearing the iconic rainbow jersey in the discipline at the XCO World Cup in Quebec. This win marks his second XCO World Cup win of the season.

Despite the challenging and muddy conditions forcing the riders to dismount and run on several sections, Pidcock delivered a consistent and impressive performance. After experiencing two punctures in the previous week’s race in Snowshoe, Pidcock’s closest rival, Mathias Fluckiger, encountered his own issues and flat tires in Canada on lap two and five.

Pidcock started strongly and emerged as part of a leading group of five riders at the end of the first lap. He eventually took the lead with a 16-second advantage heading into lap three, with Fluckiger closely behind him. As the race progressed, the pair extended their lead, but it was Fluckiger who fell victim to a second flat tire on the penultimate lap. Pidcock seized the opportunity and established a commanding 33-second lead at the bell, eventually securing a comfortable victory.

Pidcock’s win in the rainbow jersey further solidifies his status as one of the top contenders in the XCO discipline. With this impressive performance, he continues to highlight his skill and dominance on the international mountain biking stage.
