Tobias Lund Andresen Takes Second Place in Opening CRO Race Sprint
The opening stage of the CRO Race showcased the strength of Team dsm-firmenich’s sprint squad as Tobias Lund Andresen secured a solid second place finish in the town of Sinj. The team executed their plan flawlessly, setting up Lund Andresen for the sprint and delivering him to the line in a strong position.
The stage began with a small breakaway forming early on, but the peloton kept them in check and eventually caught them with 20 kilometers to go. Team dsm-firmenich remained focused on staying safe and conserving energy for the expected fast finale. As the race entered the final kilometers, the team worked together to position Lund Andresen perfectly for the sprint. Despite facing strong competition, Lund Andresen powered his way to the line but ultimately settled for second place.
Reflecting on the stage, Lund Andresen acknowledged the team’s commitment and support, saying, “Everyone was fully committed to go for me today in the finish and the motivation was clearly high…I didn’t have the legs to go around Viviani in the end, but also nice with another second place to add the collection.”
Team dsm-firmenich coach Joey van Rhee praised the team’s strategic approach, stating, “We made the plan that if there was a bigger group going in the early break then we hoped to be in there to maybe take some seconds and take pressure off in the bunch…From that point it was rider against rider and it was a really close one. It shows the quality of the team here and we’re all already looking forward to tomorrow’s opportunity to go for it.”
With a strong start to the CRO Race, Team dsm-firmenich is poised for more success in the upcoming stages. Lund Andresen’s impressive sprinting abilities and the team’s cohesive performance bode well for their chances of securing more podium finishes in the race.
