The USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships: Your Gateway to the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships
The USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships have been named the official qualification events for Masters aiming to compete in the prestigious UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in 2024 and 2025. Masters (racing age 30+) who aspire to participate in these global championships have the chance to qualify through the USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships in 2023 and 2024.
According to the announcement, the 2024 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships will take place in Aalborg, Denmark. Winners of the Masters categories at the 2023 Gran Fondo National Championships will automatically qualify for the 2024 World Championships. Similarly, those who win their age group competition at the 2024 USA Cycling Gran Fondo National Championships will secure a spot in the 2025 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.
Speaking on this momentous occasion, Gran Fondo National Series founder, Reuben Kline, expressed his excitement, stating, “We are honored to have Gran Fondo National Championships recognized as an official qualification event for the 2024 and 2025 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships.” He emphasized the dedication to hosting rider-centric events and highlighted the opportunity this presents for Masters competitors.
Gran Fondo Maryland, set to take place on September 15, 2024, in Frederick, MD, will host the qualifying event for the 2025 World Championships. This event is open to all riders, with National Champions in the 30+ age groups securing spots in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. Riders are encouraged to participate in the Gran Fondo National Series events and Partner-Events to qualify for the #GFNats and earn a chance to compete at the pinnacle of Gran Fondo racing.
