Team Visma | Lease a Bike sets sights on final weekend after smooth fourth stage of the Volta a Catalunya

# Team Visma | Lease a Bike Prepares for Climactic Final Stages at Volta a Catalunya

In a decisive fourth stage of the Volta a Catalunya, the organizing committee opted for safety first by shortening the stage by over twenty kilometers due to strong winds. The final climb to Vallter 2000 was replaced with a finish in Camprodon, providing a new opportunity for sprinters but denying the climbers a mountaintop finish.

A breakaway of four riders initially built a lead of three minutes but ultimately could not surprise the peloton. In a thrilling sprint to the finish line, Ethan Vernon of NSN Cycling Team emerged victorious. Meanwhile, Team Visma | Lease a Bike performed well, with all riders finishing safely, including Jonas Vingegaard, who remains in fourth place in the general classification.

Marc Reef, the team’s sports director, reflected on the day’s events, stating, “It was the right decision to shorten the stage. Safety always comes first. The change meant we had to adjust our plans. It was now clear that it was going to be a bunch sprint. For us, it was important to conserve energy and guide Jonas safely through the stage. We managed that perfectly.”

Looking ahead to the final two days, which feature challenging mountain finishes, Reef expressed optimism about the team’s prospects: “We have two very interesting stages coming up. We’re in a strong position, with seven strong riders, and we’ll be fighting for the highest possible position in the general classification over the next two days.”

As the event draws to a close, all eyes will be on Team Visma | Lease a Bike and their bid for a strong finish in the remaining stages of the Volta a Catalunya.
