Team Visma | Lease a Bike sets sights on demanding final Giro d’Italia weekend
# Team Visma | Lease a Bike Prepares for Final Challenges of Giro d’Italia
As the iconic Giro d’Italia nears its climax, Team Visma | Lease a Bike is gearing up for the intense challenges ahead. The latest stage, which stretched 171 kilometers from Fai della Paganella to Pieve di Soligo, was relatively uneventful until the high mountains beckoned. The decisive moment came at the steep Muro di Ca’ del Poggio, where the dynamics of the race shifted dramatically.
During the initial phase, the peloton maintained a vigilant watch over a four-rider breakaway. The last of these escapees was reeled in just before the final climb. Team star Jonas Vingegaard positioned himself strategically throughout the race, while teammate Sepp Kuss effectively neutralized an attack from Afonso Eulálio. As the race progressed towards the finish, it was sprinter Magnier who emerged victorious.
“The Muro di Ca’ del Poggio was tough,” Vingegaard reflected after the stage. “Eulálio launched a strong acceleration. We expected the GC riders to make moves on that climb, so we were prepared for everything. Our main goal today was to reach the finish safely. We never really thought about the stage victory. There was little opportunity to save energy today, but we are really looking forward to the next two mountain stages.”
The team’s focus now shifts to the demanding mountain stages that lie ahead, as they aspire to secure a strong finish in this year’s Giro d’Italia.
