# Team Visma | Lease a Bike Faces Setback in Neutralised Stage of Tour de Pologne

In the third stage of the Tour de Pologne, a challenging route featuring seven categorized climbs took an unexpected turn. After a breakaway group was reeled in, the peloton was interrupted by a significant crash with just 20 kilometers to go, leading race organizers to temporarily halt the event due to a shortage of ambulances.

Following a 15-minute suspension, the race resumed, allowing several dropped riders to rejoin the peloton. Team Visma | Lease a Bike’s Menno Huising and Attila Valter took charge at the forefront, aiming to position Matthew Brennan, who was celebrating his twentieth birthday, for a strong finish. Unfortunately, Brennan got boxed in during the final sprint, finishing in 27th place.

Reflecting on the day, Huising expressed mixed emotions. “Everything looked perfect. It was a very tough stage and Matthew and I were still in a good position. If we survived one more climb, I could support Matthew to fight for the stage win. Unfortunately, a serious crash occurred. Let me start by saying that I think it was the right decision to neutralise the race, because safety comes first,” said the young Dutchman. He added, “The only unfortunate thing is that a group of about thirty riders were able to return to the peloton, even though they had already been dropped. We had pushed hard to get there, and they got back ‘for free’. Ultimately, we were the ones who suffered as a result. It’s very disappointing right now, but all in all, we can be satisfied that we were in such a small group as two neopros.”
