At the team presentation in Amsterdam, Team Visma | Lease a Bike unveiled their ambitious goals for the upcoming year, aiming for a third consecutive victory in the Tour de France. Rider Jonas Vingegaard expressed his determination to defend his title, stating, “I want to make sporting history in France.” Vingegaard emphasized the need to stay at the top and fight for victory to accomplish this feat.
The 111th Tour de France route, featuring challenging climbs in the Pyrenees and French Alps, presents an ideal battleground for Vingegaard. However, the Danish rider acknowledged the strong competition from formidable opponents like Tadej Pogacar, Remco Evenepoel, and now-competitor Primoz Roglic, who recently joined the German team BORA-Hansgrohe. Vingegaard emphasized the necessity of a solid plan and thorough preparation to tackle the competition.
While the absence of key riders like Nathan van Hooydonck and Wout van Aert presents a challenge, the team remains optimistic about their prospects, with van Aert racing his first Giro d’Italia in 2024.
