Team Jumbo-Visma Shines with Four Riders in Top Fifteen at Vuelta a España

Team Jumbo-Visma displayed their strength and unity during the first mountain stage of the Vuelta a España, with four of their riders finishing in the top fifteen. The stage took place in Andorra and featured two challenging first-category climbs that tested the riders’ general classification ambitions.

Throughout the stage, a lead group of nine riders stayed ahead of the peloton. On the final climb, American rider Sepp Kuss made a decisive move, forcing the peloton to chase. Jumbo-Visma leaders Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic closely followed, with Wilco Kelderman also in their ranks. Despite Kuss being caught by the peloton, he continued to lead the group of favorites. Ultimately, the stage was decided in a sprint finish, with Remco Evenepoel taking the victory, closely followed by Vingegaard and Roglic.

Vingegaard acknowledged that he didn’t have his best day but accepted it as part of the game. He praised Evenepoel as the rightful winner and expressed satisfaction with his team’s overall performance, stating, “As a team, we performed at our peak today.”

Teammate Sepp Kuss, who lives and trains in Andorra, found extra motivation from the local crowd and enjoyed the support as he climbed the mountains. Kuss mentioned, “With my attack, I wanted to test Primoz and Jonas’ rivals. That way, we challenged them. It gives us confidence that Jonas and Primoz were among the best at the finish. That’s good news for the coming stages.”

The strong performance of four Jumbo-Visma riders in the top fifteen demonstrates the team’s formidable presence in the Vuelta a España. With Vingegaard, Roglic, Kelderman, and Kuss all showing their strength in the mountains, Team Jumbo-Visma is poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming stages of the race.
