Team Jumbo-Visma overcomes puncture in Vuelta a España team chrono
Team Jumbo-Visma faced a setback in the opening stage of the Vuelta a España as Jonas Vingegaard suffered a puncture, forcing him to change bikes and costing the team valuable time. However, the Dutch team managed to limit the damage and finished with a time of 18 minutes and 2 seconds. Despite the challenging conditions, including rain and poor visibility, the team was satisfied with their performance.
“In a team time trial, you have to find a balance between riding hard and staying safe,” said team leader Primoz Roglic. “We can be happy with how we managed it. The aim was to get through without any unnecessary problems. You can’t win the Vuelta here, but you can lose it.”
The team took a cautious approach during the time trial, prioritizing the safety of their riders. “The aim was to get everyone across the line safely, and we did,” said Hungarian time trial champion Attila Valter. Despite the puncture, the team remained focused and rode a strong time trial.
Overall, Team Jumbo-Visma remains optimistic for the upcoming stages of the Vuelta a España. The team knows that there are still plenty of opportunities to make up for lost time and stay in the race for the title.
