Team Jumbo-Visma Faces Mixed Emotions After Chaotic Stage at Vuelta a España

Team Jumbo-Visma experienced a rollercoaster of emotions during the fourth stage of the Vuelta a España. The stage started off with a fast and hectic pace, with a lead group of three riders breaking away from the peloton. Sports director Marc Reef commented, “The pace was relatively high for most of the day.”

However, the stage took a turn for the worse when Wilco Kelderman crashed in the final moments. Thankfully, he was able to continue, but finished more than three minutes behind and lost his place at the top of the general classification. Reef expressed his disappointment, saying, “This loss of time is a big disappointment,” but remained optimistic that Kelderman could bounce back. “The team kept [Primoz and Jonas] out of the wind all day. The focus is now on tomorrow.”

Despite Kelderman’s setback, Primoz Roglic and Jonas Vingegaard finished safely and without losing any time. The team worked tirelessly to protect them from the wind throughout the race.

The current leader of the Vuelta a España is Remco Evenepoel from Soudal – Quick Step, followed closely by Enric Mas from Movistar Team. Jonas Vingegaard is currently in fourth place, with Roglic right behind him in eighth.

The team’s focus now shifts to the upcoming stages, where they hope to regain their momentum and secure a strong position in the overall classification.
