Team Jumbo-Visma Aims for Stellar Performance in Primoz Roglic’s Farewell Race

Team Jumbo-Visma is determined to make their mark in Il Lombardia, the final monument race of the season, and give their rider Primoz Roglic a memorable farewell. Despite their numerous successes, the race is missing from their list of accomplishments.

“We want to end Primoz’s time in our team with a top performance and hope that the polished diamond that Primoz is will shine again,” says Marc Reef, sports director of Team Jumbo-Visma.

Roglic’s journey with the team began in 2016 when he joined from Adria Mobil, and it quickly became a successful collaboration. In 2020, Roglic won Liège-Bastogne-Liège and has previously finished fourth and seventh in Lombardy.

“Primoz looked very relaxed last week,” describes Reef about Roglic’s state of mind. “He also wants to get the best out of this race. This is also reflected in his training over the last few days. As well as winning the Tour of Emilia and finishing fourth in Tre Valli Varesine, he has also explored the Lombardy route. This shows Primoz’s professionalism.”

Reef also emphasizes the strength of the team that will compete in Lombardy, stating, “We have a solid group here. The guys are all motivated to excel. We did some fantastic things last year. We want to do the same in the last races of the season. Next Saturday, we can count on a strong team that will not give up in the final.”

Il Lombardia, known as the Race of the Falling Leaves, starts in Como and finishes in Bergamo, covering a distance of 238 kilometers with seven climbs and almost five thousand altimeters. Team Jumbo-Visma has a clear plan and is in good shape for the race. “The spirit of the guys is promising. We want to make Primoz’s farewell race an exceptional one,” says Reef.

Overall, the team is determined to perform well and give Roglic a memorable end to his time with Team Jumbo-Visma.
