Team Bahrain Victorious Aims for Victory at Paris-Nice: A Guide to the Race to the Sun
The cycling team Bahrain Victorious is set to face the challenging Paris-Nice race, known as ‘the Race to the Sun,’ with high hopes and a strong roster. With GC leader Pello Bilbao and co-leader Santiago Buitrago, the team is gearing up for a competitive performance on the demanding route that includes 18,000 meters of climbing, a team time trial, and classic-style days.
According to Sports Director Michal Golaś, the team is optimistic about their chances at the race: “We have a great team around Pello & Santiago, who have both proved they’re in very good shape. So we are very hopeful about a good result in GC.”
The race, in its 82nd edition, kicks off with a challenging 157.7km stage starting and finishing in Les Mureaux, presenting opportunities for various types of riders to shine. The team has identified key stages to focus on, like the team time trial on stage 3 and the decisive climbing stages on Wednesday and the final weekend.
Golaś highlighted the importance of strategy and teamwork throughout the race: “We have to be really careful on the flatter days, then we have the TTT, which is crucial for GC, and where we hope we can gain some time over the other contenders.”
As the race culminates in a tough mountainous stage on the final weekend, the team is gearing up with experienced climbers like Jack Haig to navigate the challenging terrain. Golaś emphasized the significance of the upcoming critical stages, stating, “The weekend is super important, and we will really need good climbing legs, but I believe that with this ambitious team we can achieve a first-rate result.”
With ambitions for a stage win and a spot on the overall podium, Team Bahrain Victorious is poised for an exciting and competitive journey at Paris-Nice.
