In a remarkable display of teamwork and endurance, 20-year-old Marion Bunel claimed victory in the queen stage of the Tour de l’Ardèche, while teammate Femke De Vries secured the overall lead. “It feels like I’m living in a dream,” Bunel exclaimed post-race. “We rode strongly as a team all day, and it’s amazing to be able to finish it off like this. It doesn’t even feel like my own victory, because we really did this together as a team. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone.”
The fifth stage of the prestigious French race kicked off with an aggressive start. Bunel and her black-and-yellow squad positioned themselves at the forefront from the very first climb, demonstrating their intent throughout the ride.
In a decisive move, Bunel and De Vries launched their attack with twenty kilometers remaining. The duo worked in perfect harmony, steadily increasing their lead before crossing the finish line side by side. With Bunel claiming the stage victory, De Vries donned the leader’s jersey, signaling a strong possibility for the team’s overall success.
Looking to the final stage, Bunel acknowledged the challenges ahead: “Tomorrow will be another tough day with plenty of climbing. We’ll try to control the race as best as we can and see what’s possible in the finale. But the big goal is to secure the overall victory with Femke,” she concluded, highlighting the team’s unity and shared aspirations for success.
As excitement builds for the closing stage, Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women is poised to attack, hoping to keep their momentum and take home the top honors.
