Team Lotto Soudal has announced the signing of 22-year-old Danish cyclist, Andreas Kron, who will join the team for the next two years. Kron, currently riding for UCI ProTeam Riwal Readynez, will make the move up to the WorldTour in the upcoming 2021 cycling season.
“The WorldTour has always been the ultimate ambition. I have a foot in the door now and have two years to prove myself. I don’t pretend to think I have made it,” said Andreas Kron. “The hard work starts now and the challenge is for me to show I can progress as a rider.”
Kron, known for his versatility on both road and track, has shown particular strength on hilly courses. He finished second in last year’s Tour of Belgium’s queen’s stage, and earlier this year, he won the Young Rider classification in the Saudi Tour. Kron’s determination and character have not gone unnoticed by his new team.
“I saw him finishing 5th at last year’s Road World Championship in Harrogate in tough and bad weather circumstances. He showed to be a rider with character,” said Lotto Soudal General Manager John Lelangue. “We’ve been watching Andreas for a while, and we are confident that he will show soon what he is capable of.”
With his sights set on excelling in hilly classics and week-long stage races, Kron believes that joining Lotto Soudal is the right move for his development as both a rider and a person. He is eager to take advantage of the team’s support and solid plan for the future.
“Lotto Soudal has a big focus on my development as a rider and person as well, which is also the reason why I went in that direction. They seem to have a solid plan for where to go, and it matches very well with where I see myself,” Kron explained.
Despite his young age, Kron is prepared for the challenges ahead and is ready to prove himself in the WorldTour. As he prepares to compete in the Danish Road Championships and the U23 European Championships, Kron is determined to continue his positive trajectory and showcase his abilities.
