Strong team performance at the start of the Sibiu Tour

Florian Lipowitz in 2nd place, Sergio Higuita in 4th place – that was the result for Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe at the first stage of the Sibiu Cycling Tour. The Romanian race had a mountaintop finish to Păltiniș right at its starting day. The final 15km climb brought the first preliminary decision in the general classification. With 10km to go, Florian Lipowitz, George Bennett and Andreas Leknessund broke away from the reduced peloton. Lipowitz secured the mountain classification and opened up the final sprint early. Leknessund caught up at the line and took the stage win in a tight photo finish. The chase group crossed the line 58 seconds after the trio – Sergio Higuita won the sprint from this group to complete the strong team performance. Lipowitz is second overall, four seconds back, and will wear the best climber’s jersey tomorrow.The second day of racing is split into two half stages.
