Cristián Rodríguez Determined to Keep Trying for Stage Win in Vuelta Ciclista a España
Cristián Rodríguez is not ready to give up his quest for a stage victory in the Vuelta Ciclista a España. Despite facing challenges in the 8th stage, Rodríguez remains optimistic and determined to make his mark in the race.
Reflecting on his performance, Rodríguez expressed his gratitude to his team for their support, stating, “I’ve had a good feeling since the start of the Vuelta Ciclista a España. My team-mates are doing a great job for me. Thank you for your commitment.“
Rodríguez was part of the breakaway group in the 8th stage, but encountered difficulties due to the number of riders and the unpredictable pace. He explained, “Unfortunately, there were too many of us at the front. We couldn’t hear each other, and the pace was erratic, with attacks to try and break up the group.”
Despite the challenges, Rodríguez remained tenacious and attempted to seize opportunities as they arose. He said, “I tried to jump into the moves that were forming as the attacks went on, so we took our time, but it always ended up coming back from behind. Jumbo-Visma rode behind us because they wanted the stage and the jersey.”
Acknowledging his brief moment as the virtual leader in the race, Rodríguez emphasized his determination to keep pushing. He stated, “I was virtual leader for a few moments in the race, but tonight I’ve got nothing. I’m going to try my luck again by getting into the breakaways. My aim is still to try and win a stage in this Vuelta Ciclista a España, rather than the overall classification.”
With his sights set on a stage victory, Rodríguez’s determination is unwavering as he continues to pursue his goal in the Vuelta Ciclista a España.
